It's easy to picture a talented young artist by the name of Rick Griffin seated at a table sketching this Murphy-type character. This was likely a piece of camera-ready art used in a promotional piece for The Challenger's Band. Rick did a number of pieces for the Challengers in the early 1960s.This original pen-and-ink drawing by Rick Griffin is in very good condition, at least 85 percent of mint.Some yellowing has occurred as shown in scan. Two pieces of linen tape at top edge of reverse side, where it was once attached to a mat. Otherwise very light wear. Visible handwriting impressions on the reverse side from Rick's pen. No tack holes, tears, or creases. No water stains or moisture damage of any kind.Measures approximately 8 inches wide by 10 inches tall.
