Description
Up for auction is this submersible ROV. It has 5 thrusters, a spotlight, a black and white camera with IR lights, a black and white monitor with carry bag, a 100 foot tether, and a fully functional manipulator so you can retrieve items from the bottom, also included is a color camera with mount and 100 foot cable. This ROV is fully functional and ready to go. The entire system is 12 volt DC. I have run it for 3 hours in one sitting on one deep cycle battery and still had enough power left to use the trolling motor to shore on the same battery. It is very easy to use. In its current configuration it is set up with the black and white camera and about 75 feet of the tether, to use all 100 feet of the tether you will need to use the color camera. I have used it at 53 feet for hours and it should withstand 75 feet. Here is the story of this ROV the Seaweed I : I went fishing one day in my canoe, it was a very windy day, the wind helped me roll over into the water, my brand new, very expensive, sunglasses came off of my face and went into the murky abyss of Lynx lake. There is no swimming allowed in the lake so a scuba diver was not an option for retrieval of the sunglasses. I decided that it would be cheaper to buy an underwater camera and attach a hook to it to get them back. So... I purchased said item and attached a hook to it. After several hours of searching I located my sunglasses, I even managed to hook them, as I tried to pull them up, they slid off of the hook. Shortly after this episode I decided to take it to the next level as I was not willing to be defeated by a lake and I really like my sunglasses. I did lots of research and testing and then built this ROV to retrieve my sunglasses. After a month and a half of trying, I finally had a working, reliable, robust creation. I retrieved my sunglasses from 53 feet of water in a ravine with a very silty bottom. This is a very useful tool and really fun to operate. I have decided to build another one but my wife says that I have to sell this one before I can build the new one. I will provide phone support to whoever buys this as I know that not everyone is familiar with ROVs. From the tip of the manipulator to the back of the ROV it is 36 inches, 14 inches wide and 14 inches tall. Good luck bidding.
