Once this auction is ended I will not be relisting..  This auction is for my personal longboard that Dale Velzy made for my back in 1988. It is just shy of 9' 5". I went and visited Dale at his home and asked him if he would make me a board. I watched this board get shaped by Dale in his back work shed. I saw the blank and the final shape and in between. Dale signed the stringer and serial numbered the board. The serial number is #1. I told Dale what I wanted color wise and decal location etc..He sent the board out to get colored and glassed. When the board returned I went to pick it up at his home and was happy to see the colors were what I wanted..(anyone that knew Dale knew that you didnt always get what you wanted) If it was a different color or not colored at all Dale would just say "It still rides the same" That was Dale. I was unhappy at first when I saw the untraditional VELZY along the rails as I had asked for the classic oval lams..Actually now I am glad he decided to do the VELZY differently as I have not seen another VELZY with this logo..I would imagine there are others like it but probably not as many as the oval lams. The top of the deck is actually very clean with some small shatters and slight yellowing of the foam. You can see in the pics the board still looks pretty good and if hanged the deck is very clean and presentable. The bottom of the board is more yellowed and has brown spots from water seeping in shatters. There are a couple punctures shown in the nose of the board next to the Velzy oval lam. The bottom is typical for a 20 year old board that was ridden but the top is much better. I rode this for a few years and then retired it to my storage indoors out of the sun. So here is a hand shaped signed Velzy longboard with the serial number 1. I am the original owner. The VELZY logo is unusual. This would make a great addition to anyones collection of Velzy boards.
